TOURIST VISA OR VISITOR VISA (SUBCLASS 600)
As the name suggests, this is holiday visa. This can be used to visit family and friends. It can be used for tourism and holidays. While on this visa you cannot work. You can study a small course less than 3 months, but it’s not a student visa.
VISITOR VISA
Visitor visa is a temporary visa which allows you to stay for the time period mentioned on your visa. The department takes into consideration multiple factors which are considered before the visa is granted. It includes your duration of stay and reason for visit. Department decides the length of your stay, you might not get the amount of time as applied by you. Your visa will specify if it’s for single entry or multiple entries. Multi entry visa allows you to leave and enter Australia many times within valid duration of the visa. If you need to stay longer you will have to prove your exceptional circumstances warranting your longer stay.
Tourist cannot be extended. If required you will need to apply for another visa. Separate application is required for each family member to apply for a tourist visa.
Processing time can vary between 2-4weeks.
You should have medical insurance to cover any emergencies while in Australia.
